Rights are claims that we make against each other and assert to protect ourselves from the encroachment of others.

Why animals should have rights. Recent ethology research has proven that animals have the intellectual ability to feel and react to complex emotions anger happiness and jealousy. Animals are living things and their lives are just as precious as a human lives. Should animals have human rights.

Animal rights is the idea that because humans are animals animals are humans. They feel motherly love loneliness frustration fear and pleasure depending on the situation they find themselves in. However animals dont always have the same rights as humans because their interests are not always the same as ours and some rights would be irrelevant to animals lives.

But in centuries past animals were quite frequently involved in court cases in which they were put on trial. Animal rights is the belief that animals have an intrinsic value separate from any value they have to humans and are worthy of moral consideration. If something happens to a pet unless there is cruelty in the actions taken the responsibility involves replacing the property of that pet instead of addressing a fundamental right of life.

So it is understandable in a legal context that since chimpanzees have similar capacities to human persons they should have certain rights. Another 62 percent believe animals deserve some. Animals like gorillas and chimpanzees are closely related to humans.

She made this simple argument. They have life and hence right to be treated well. Speciesism is the human belief that we have the absolute right to command all other species simply because we have the possession of opposable thumbs.

We believe that every creature with a will to live has a right to live free from pain and suffering. Here the animals live their lives in small bare cages bored to insanity awaiting a death that although it will not mark the fur is both inhumane and lacking any semblance of dignity. The idea that animals could be considered legal persons with rights is relatively new.

One group of people believe that animals deserve the same rights as humans and should not be used by humans for food or research while others think it is okay to employ animals for study or other human needs. Lets assume women are less intelligent. Scientifically speaking human beings are animals.

Similarly the reason that animal rights activists want animals to have rights is to prevent them from suffering unjustly. For instance a dog doesnt have an interest in voting and therefore doesnt have the right to vote since that right would be as meaningless to a dog as it is to a. Animal rights are not just a philosophy it is a social movement that challenges the traditional view of society.

That means the value of their life is dependent upon market forces and demand. They do not have a voice us humans need to protect them and give them a voice and this is where the concept of animal rights is rooted. Animals should be granted the same rights as humans first because just like humans they have the capacity to suffer.

The reason that people have rights is to prevent unjust suffering. Supporters of animal rights believe that animals have an inherent wortha value completely separate from their usefulness to humans. But I have misgivings about the rights approach.

This is a logically untenable position. Animals deserve to have the same rights as humans do. Opponents of animal rights argue that animals do not think or reason on their own so much that they need no rights.

All animals have emotions and memories and they are all smart in their own ways. Our legal system may be structured in such a way as to see rights holders. Animals should have their own set of rights that protect them from abuse neglecting and wrong treatment.

PETA once ran an ad campaign called The Holocaust On Your Plate. In 1792 a woman named Mary Wollstonecraft - the mother of Mary Shelly - the author of Frankenstein - published a book entitled On The Vindication of The Rights of Women. According to the laws of most nations animals are covered under property rights.

They have the right to be free of oppression confinement use and abuse by humans. Animals are sentient beings. But they have no rights.

Peter Singer a professor of bioethics tells DW why great apes. Animal rights is not about limiting suffering to beings who can experience suffering.
